Let’s talk Mood boards!
So, what is a mood board?
Simply put, it’s a collection of all your ideas, inspirations, hopes and dreams for your wedding. It can be pictures, colors, fabrics, photos… absolutely anything at all! You can cut images out of magazines, or you can build a collection of images on your computer (I use canva ). Pinterest and referencing the color wheel is also a necessity. It is essentially to have a visual representation of all the ideas and visions you’ve dreamed about for your big day!
A mood board is so useful to a designer, whether it be a florist, or a cake baker… anybody really that you want to help make your wedding design and theme come to fruition! It helps to understand your likes and style and gives us a great starting point in the whole planning & design process.
Most importantly it helps to avoid miscommunication and misinterpretation.
The nice thing is, the first mood board you create isn’t final… you can play around with it, modify it and always change it, but at least you have a great place to start.
What if you don’t know where to start… well that is where I come in!
Even if you have just two colors you like, that’s a great starting point because now we can work off of that color scheme…
At that point we can suggest different styles, sizes, and flowers to use. By asking a lot of questions, this will allow me to create a solid, and all inspiring, mood board.
This mood board is an example of one I created for an out of state client. It’s essential to have something like this to share with my vendors since a lot of the planning that is taking place is happening virtually.
