Pyrotechnics for your Wedding Day

In lue of celebrating Independence Day this week, what better topic would be more fitting than discussing Pyrotechnics for your Wedding Day?

Having fireworks at your wedding is a fun and unique way to enhance your guest's experience and undoubtedly will leave your party goers astonished by the end of the night, bringing an added element of surprise to your evenings itinerary.

If your budget allows for this spectacular exhibition, a two or three minute firework show will most definitely give that overall "wow" factor that you may be desiring.

With that said, there are a few things you will want to consider before making the big decision of adding this ensemble into your wedding day entertainment.

We spoke to Oscar Lopez, CTO and Founder of Roar Over Texas, and per his experience and expertise, he shared some valuable insight on the topic.

1) COLD SPARKS REQUIRE PERMITS! Mr. Lopez says that many of his clients state that their “DJ” offers them cheaper and that a permit is not required. Most DJ’s are not insured to perform pyrotechnic displays and permits are REQUIRED for these anywhere in the State of Texas. Unfortunately, he has seen many DJs get themselves, the coordinator AND the venues fined by using them without permits, which is a big no-no!

2) Don’t wait until the end of the night to do the fireworks display. Most weddings lose about 50-75% of their wedding guests before the reception is over. It is suggested to have them displayed prior to the grand exit, to allow for all your guests to enjoy the experience.

*From a Planner's perspective, instead of having fireworks at the end of your reception, another great option is to have your guests invited outside after the cake cutting ceremony. This is a great option since your guests are already, in most cases, gathered around to watch the newlyweds cut their cake. Having your DJ or MC announce this transition, "All guests are invited outdoors for a grand surprise from the couple" is a tasteful and effective way to utilize your event's time efficiently. Everyone is then invited back inside for more fun, party and dancing!

3) Definitely look at the quality of the fireworks being used when choosing a firework display company. There is a difference between professional grade fireworks and consumer grade fireworks. Professional grade fireworks look 10x better than consumer grade fireworks do. Make sure to do your research on the company that you hire as well. Checking reviews and ensuring guest safety is always a MUST! You do not want to regret hiring a non-reputable or non certified company.

4) There are alternatives to fireworks such as confetti/rose petal cannons or a drive thru pyro exit or even a snow effect exit! Make sure to look into all the options available to you so that you are confident you are obtaining the overall vision you are dreaming of.

In closing, please make sure to check with your venue coordinator and local authorities prior to securing pyrotechnics for your big day to ensure that your venue is legally allowed to have them. It is also very important to plan ahead, allowing the appropriate amount of time for your professional pyrotech company to obtain the needed permits and licenses required.

Happy Planning to you All and a huge thank you to Roar Over Texas for giving our couples such great insight and key points to consider before locking in this epic form of entertainment.

With Love,
